Although dengue hemorrhagic fever can be life-threatening, not all dengue virus infections even present with symptoms. To determine what may be driving the differences in clinical and asymptomatic infections, Simon-Lorière et al. examined the serum and immune gene transcripts of Cambodian children infected with dengue virus serotype 1. They saw that relative to those with clinical infections, the small subset of asymptomatic children had increased signs of antigen presentation, T cell activation, and T cell apoptosis; plasmablast differentiation and anti-dengue antibodies seemed relatively lower. These results provide clues for pathways that may drive pathologic responses in severe dengue virus infections.

Spotted Fever Experiments
From late 1941 to early 1945, physicians at Buchenwald and Natzweiler concentration camps conducted experiments on inmates for the benefit of the German armed forces. They were testing the effectiveness of spotted fever and other vaccines.
Approximately 75 percent of the subjects were given trial vaccines for spotted fever or nourished with other chemical substances. They were then injected with the virus. As a result, more than 90 percent of them died.[9]
The virus was introduced to the remaining 25 percent without any prior protection as a control group. Most of them didn’t make it. The physicians also conducted experiments associated with yellow fever, smallpox, typhus, and other diseases. Hundreds of inmates died, and many more suffered unbearable pain as a result.
Malaria Experiments
For over three years, a series of experiments was conducted on more than 1,000 inmates at Dachau concentration camp in search of a treatment for malaria. Healthy inmates were infected by mosquitoes or extracts from those mosquitoes.
Subjects who contacted malaria were then treated with various drugs to test their efficacy. Many inmates died. Those who lived suffered painfully, and most were permanently disabled.[12]

The issue became one of drug development instead of vaccines. Apparently, there is no need for experiments with vaccines like those that the Nazis performed if money can be made via drug development.

These findings also imply that preventing conditions known to place cells under increased stress and altered metabolism, such as obesity, could prevent disease from viral infections.
If vaccines are not required to control the viral infections linked to stress-altered metabolism and obesity, the development of viral infections must somehow be biophysically constrained.
For comparison, the energy-dependent reassembly of viruses prevents development of effective vaccines.That means that neither vaccines or drug development will effectively prevent the pathology caused by viruses.
