The neurobiological consequence of predating or grazing

Excerpt: “While C. elegans feeds exclusively on bacteria, P. pacificus is able to switch its behaviour to prey on other worms if bacterial food gets scarce. These differences are reflected in the number and position of neuronal synapses.”

My comment: In my model, ingested bacteria could epigenetically cause the transition from “grazing” in C. elegans to “predation” in  P. pacificus via the common molecular mechanisms of nutrient-dependent ecological niche construction and pheromone-controlled social niche construction that leads to neurogenic niche construction associated with species-specific behavior.

The transition from grazing to predation appears to exemplify what is common to all species in my model: nutrient chemical-dependent pheromone-controlled adaptive evolution.
