The ICGC/TCGA Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG), known as the Pan-Cancer Project, is an international collaboration to identify common patterns of mutation in more than 2,600 whole cancer genomes from the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

Biological systems have evolved biochemical, electrical, mechanical, and genetic networks to perform essential functions across various length and time scales.
Nearly all ICGC/TCGA members tried to validate claims about the evolution of biological systems in the context of nearly two dozen articles published in Nature and Nature-family journals on 2/5/20. Most seemed to ignore the virus-driven pathology of the new coronavirus from Wuhan all other virus-driven pathology across kingdoms.

The researchers have explored mechanistic explanations for associations showing for example that viral integration may drive high telomerase expression which is tumourogenic and emphasised the potential importance of viral integration to the immune response.
Most of the other group members took Lieber’s ridiculous claims about the evolution of biological systems and placed them back into the context of Darwin’s “conditions of life,” which he repeatedly linked from ecological variation to ecological adaptations via what is now known about the food energy-dependent immune response. “Conditions of life” are food energy-dependent and constrained by the physiology of reproduction. Organisms that do not find enough nutritious foods do not become members of species. They die from starvation, which means they fail to produce enough offspring to maintain population growth.

This heterogeneity arises from the stochastic nature of Darwinian evolution. There are three preconditions for Darwinian evolution: characteristics must vary within a population; this variation must be heritable from parent to offspring; and there must be competition for survival within the population. In the context of somatic cells, heritable variation arises from mutations acquired stochastically throughout life, notwithstanding additional contributions from germline and epigenetic variation. A subset of these mutations alter the cellular phenotype, and a small subset of those variants confer an advantage on clones during the competition to escape the tight physiological controls wired into somatic cells. Mutations that provide a selective advantage to the clone are termed driver mutations, as opposed to selectively neutral passenger mutations.
Extending the story begun by TCGA, ICGC and other cancer genomics projects, the PCAWG has brought us closer to a comprehensive narrative of the causal biological changes that drive cancer phenotypes. We must now translate this knowledge into sustainable, meaningful clinical treatments.

In my model, increased vitamin C via the ingestion of sago palm-like leaves and increased vitamin D, both of which are sunlight dependent, stabilized the organized genomes of mice and humans via fixation of the EDAR V370A allele, which has been linked to human populations from the Old World to the New World in far less time than the populations could have evolved. There is no evidence for anything except that fact that all populations of all species must ecologically adapt to viruses, like the coronaviruses that threaten to cause our species extinction.
The frequency of the human-specific EDAR V370A allele appears to be uniquely elevated in North and East Asian and New World populations due to a bout of positive selection likely to have occurred circa 20,000 y ago.
