The current print issue of America’s 1st Freedom (Volume 20 No. 8, August, 2019) Official Journal of the NRA, leads to suggestions that “gun control” be changed to “gun prohibition” and that “buy back” should be changed to “compensated confiscation.”
In the example above, words were used as weapons to daze and confuse others who may not realize what is happening to them. The use of tactical language is also common to neo-Darwinian theorists and Big Bang cosmologists.
Mutations are sudden energy jumps according to Hugo de Vries definition. Attempts to link mutations to ecologically relevant “magic traits” appear to go unnoticed. But see:
Genetic dissection of assortative mating behavior (2/7/19)
Ecologically relevant mating cues (sometimes known as “magic traits” [2,6]) are now predicted to be widespread in nature [6,7], and the last few years have seen considerable progress in our understanding of their genetic basis.
For a historical perspective on this pseudoscientific nonsense, see: Criticisms of the nutrient-dependent pheromone-controlled evolutionary model 6/4/14
1) …Kohl heavily implies, without directly stating, that alternative splicing (the only mechanism he does specifically mention) is responsible for genetic diversity, which is false because splicing does not have the capability to make changes to the genome itself.
Energy-dependent alternative splicings of RNA are the only link to changes in organized genomes. See our section on molecular epigenetics in: From Fertilization to Adult Sexual Behavior (1996)
2) Mutations are, according to him, only involved in disease and cannot result in adaptive traits, despite the massive amount of evidence contrary to that.
No experimental evidence of energy-dependent cause and effect links mutations to anything except gene losses and pathology
3) …Kohl demonstrates a blatant disregard for established nomenclature. For example, he routinely attempts to redefine ‘natural selection’. Charles Darwin (1859) defined it on page 61 of On the Origin of Species as the ‘principle, by which each slight variation, if useful, is preserved’.
No variations are preserved outside the context of the nutrient-dependent pheromone-controlled “conditions of life.”
The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin
IV. Natural Selection; or the Survival of the Fittest Difficulties of the Theory “IF under changing conditions of life…”
V. Laws of Variation: Effects of the Increased Use and Disuse of Parts, as Controlled by Natural Selection “…variability is generally related to the conditions of life to which each species has been exposed during several successive generations.”
VI. Difficulties of the Theory: Difficulties of the Theory of Descent with Modification “…allied species are descended from a common parent; and during the process of modification, each has become adapted to the conditions of life of its own region…”
4) He often defines it as selection by the organism for nutrients (Kohl, 2013a) instead of the typical selection by the environment (biotic or abiotic) for advantageous phenotypes. Another term coined by Darwin, ‘conditions of life’, is frequently described by Kohl as ‘nutrient-dependent and pheromone-controlled’ (Kohl, 2013b). Seeing that the conditions of life are the external circumstances to which an organism must be adapted, the descriptors ‘nutrient-dependent and pheromone-controlled’ are not at all applicable to the environment.
Every intelligent person on Earth knows that food energy is required to sustain life.
For comparison, see the thesis by Andrew Jones who thinks that self-replicating ribozymes “evolved.”
Lipid Encapsulation of Self Replicating Ribozymes (2012)
Despite their challenges, ribozymes have made an interesting niche for themselves in the field of abiogenesis. The evolution of a successful RNA polymerase ribozyme is a lofty goal. While its discovery would not be the be-all and end-all of abiogenesis research, it would represent an important stepping stone between prebiotic chemistry and life. The encapsulation of such a ribozyme is also an important step, as it would enable a system of heredity and evolution through natural selection. Based on progress in current research, it is only a matter of time before that ribozyme is discovered.
It is tempting to simply dismiss this foolishness, but it led to even more of it during attempts to discuss facts during the past 7 years.
